homily on harmless pleasurepleasures never really pleasures -or only for a moment, at the outset(such an enervating journey lies ahead).pieces of paper which, tearing, tear astray, ripping away half a written pageof matchless manuscript. tedious faultstoo insignificant to bother withend up consuming our very lives.list: smoking tobacco, drinking alcohol, eating to excess at every meal;and of course the demon driver, sex.heady anticipation. slight rewardexcept redoubled appetiteenervating spirit and itself.other pleasures (there are always others):reading, music, comfort, even the holyart of poetry (o thrice holy poetry!)eventually appal by mastering their masters.ever-attentive servants dominate, then rulethe feeble aristocracy they serve.I say: keep the buggers down, thrash them when they curtsey, fawn.subdue them to their leader's frown.if unruly: hung, quartered, drawn.
