This Island Life examines aspects of life on the island of Ikaria. As isolated as the island may seem out on the eastern edge of the Aegean Sea, Ikaria has a vibrant cultural life as the program for the 'Icarus Festival for Dialogue Between Cultures' shows. In 2008, the Festival kicked off with a production by Azart [http://www.azart.org/] and 'Ship of Fools' of their show, 'Jason, The Magic Quest'.Filled with great music and songs, lots of laughs, high drama and of course, plenty of Greek Tragedy, 'Jason, The Magic Quest' is currently on tour throughout the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea until October 12, 2008. You can view the full schedule of tour dates at the Azart web site [http://www.azart.org/Tour08.html].I was lucky enough to catch the production at the Ikarian port of Evthilos, and filmed bits and pieces of the show which you can see in the accompanying video. As you can see, 'Jason...' was staged on the ship itself. If you look carefully, you can see the boat rise and fall with the ebb and flow of the waves even though it is tied securely to the wharf. The music used throughout the video was either recorded live during the show, or is taken from the CD, Music For The Ship Of Fools (Vol. 1, 2006-2008) by I Fratelli La Strada. The CD is available after each show, along with a range of other merchandise, and contains music from 'Jason...', and other 'Ship of Fools' productions.====================================Jim Lesses was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia, where he has lived for most of his life.
