The Notatious String Band, Seattle, - Vivian Williams & Bonnie Zahnow, fiddles; W. B. Reid, banjo-guitar; Phil Williams, guitar - play "Figure 2 from Quadrille Sett No. 1" in the Beemer Manuscript. This hand written manuscript was prepared by a flute player named Peter Beemer in the 1860s for his dance band in Warren's Diggins, Idaho, where gold was discovered in 1862. The manuscript contains 124 tunes, including Quadrille Setts, Quicksteps, Marches, Waltzes, Varsouviennes, Mazurkas, and other dance tunes. Vivian has published a book of these tunes, available from Voyager Recordings at www.VoyagerRecords.com.
