The Piri Reis, a 15th century Turkish navigational map, was based, supposedly, on ancient maps from Persia that depict Antarctica as being free of ice. Was the tenacious little daisy one of the region's denizens before the glaciers formed to claim it? Who were those ancient cartographers? Did they really find an ice-free continent at the south pole? If so, would that not have major ramifications on our current global ecological crisis? E.S. Posthumus' new album deals with that issue musically. It offers the perfect backdrop for a tribute to a flower which would certainly have been amongst those that called the ice-free continent home.
