University of Miami's Frost Jazz Vocal Ensemble I with Frost Symphony Orchestra performing brazilian standard "Mas Que Nada" written by Jorge Ben in 1963 which a later cover version became the signature song of Sérgio Mendes. This cover combine both, the very well known Mendes' 1966 version and the later cover from 2006 where he (Mendes) re-recorded the song with The Black Eyed Peas and additional vocals by his wife Gracinha Leporace. @ UM Gusman Concert Hall, March 18, 2008 the concert was in benefit of WDNA 88.9FM Serious jazz and the UM Frost School of Music. Frost Jazz Vocal Ensemble I is made up of several vocalists and four members of the rhythm section (Daniel Strange - piano, Gregory Byers - electric bass, Ellison Smith - guitar and Victor Gonzalez - drums). Arrangement and conducting the Frost Symphony Orchestra here is by Maestro and very nice person... :) Dan Williams.
