The Hansa Expression Session was a music booth that travelled to many events around the country. It was featured at Hansa Parties in township clubs. The target market was Hansa beer drinkers at the shebeen parties. The booth consisted of 3 touch screens, a large plasma display, a midi mixer and a DJ scratch pad. The booth was a good combination of hardware and software. The interior had full colour DMX lighting which was controlled by the software. It also featured a disco colour floor controlled by the software. 3 CCV cameras recorded the users and recorded their mix, when they finished their session they were given a DVD edit of their mix.The user would enter the music booth and register their email or cell phone. They would then choose the instrument loops for the track. The loops were divided into five themes - drums, percussion, bass, melody, and voice. The hardware feedback was connected to the software so that when users touched the screen the hardware midi sliders moved and when the midi sliders were moved the center screen would show software feedback. They could control the tempo of the music allowing for a varied mix from fast drum and bass to slow Kwaito. They could also drop in sound samples. The music loops were custom created for Hansa to match their brand ideals and vibe. The booth was very successful and collected thousands of users details as it travelled to the 45 events during its life cycle.
