Set in the Warring States period, Dororo is Tezuka's signature samurai series, known for its monster designs and creative use of Japanese folklore and ghost stories. Dororo, a young thief, travels with the wandering swordsman Hyakkimaru. Before Hyakkimaru's birth, his father made a pact with 48 demons, granting each one a piece of his unborn sun in return for power. Hyakkimaru was born a stunted, barely-human creature without eyes, ears or limbs, and his father abandoned him at birth. Rehabilitated by a rural doctor (Saruta/Honma) who provided him with prostheses, Hyakkimaru travels through Japan hunting down the demons to reclaim his missing body parts. This is the 13 minute pilot for "Dororo" made in 1968. It was made in color, but the TV series was monochrome due to a tighter budget.This is part 2 of 3. Only the first 2 parts are animated (since the whole pilot is only 13 minutes long) and the last part is the storyboard and music.
