Title song from the 2003-2004 show about high school life. The soloist is John-John.A word about the costuming. Each student was given the task of creating a character with a costume THE OPPOSITE of their normal life. So the Goth girl, in REAL LIFE, was president of Christian Teens, and the Christina wanna-be's were both sweat-pants jocks. They were asked to portray those characters for a week, to gauge people's reactions, and it became an exercise in tolerance and non-judgment. It worked out really well, and changed their lives. There was a time when life was sweet,And everything was cool,Played games, read books and watched TV, Attended middle schoolBut I committed the crime of growingOne year older, that is whyI've been sentenced now to four long yearsHard labor at Winfield High.I feel like I've been dropped into the Land of Oz, cause the freshmen all look like munchkinsAnd the sophomores'd all be scarecrows, flopping around, without a brain,And the juniors talk tough but they could use some courage and the seniors all need a heart,I try to click my heels three times before I go insaneCause the wicked witch of the east is lying under a school bus,And it's clear to me I'm not in Kansas anymore,Because Emerald City's institutional green, and the Yellow Brick Road has lockers,And the Wizard has a sign that says "Principal" on the door.Welcome to the Loonie Bin,Where everyday life's a roller-coaster,And the lessons in the textbooks,Are only a part of what you need to survive,Welcome to the Twilight Zone,Seven hundred twenty days of high school,Take it slow, pray for snow and try to make it out alive. There's a guy eating lunch with a post in his tongue, and she looks like a vampire,And there are two girls dressed like rejects from Christina Aguilera videos,And there is a band geek blasting a trumpet, and three jocks bench pressing freshmen, And there's a nerd in the corner with two French fries up his nose,And there are two guys dragging a screaming kid down the hallway,And there's a girl just banging her head against the wall over there. And me, I'm just trying to get to class, but I ended up spending the morning,Getting eighty-five pounds of book bag into a locker two feet squareWelcome to the Loonie Bin,One step down from Purgatory,Where the rules not found in rulebooksAre the rules people understand,Welcome to the Psycho Ward,The International House of Morons,Take it slow, pray for snow and try to get through La-la Land.Welcome to the Loonie Bin,And I'm getting just a little worried,Cause I'm starting to see The me I'll need to be to survive,It's gonna be four long years,Negotiating life with crazy people,I'll take it slow, pray for snow and make it out alive!GET ME OUT OF HERE!
