messing around in a strange tuning, possibly Gsus7, with all the D's it sounds like it should be a D chord of some kind but if you think about it, if the G is the root you have the root and the 5th and the dominant 7th. A suspended chord leaves out the major or minor third and replaces it with another note (most commonly the 4th or 2d), which makes the chord neither major nor minor. This seems to me like it is a suspended chord with the dominant 7th added. I suppose if D is the root you have the minor third and a fourth, but what is that? As far as I know, the root and the 5th are the two most important notes in naming a chord, so I am leaning towards calling it a G chord rather than a D. If anyone knows what to call this chord, let me know. I just made the tuning up and came up with these riffs today. My memory stick ran out of room before the end of the progression where I go into a fast picking Indian sounding riff. Oh well. Maybe I will re-record it someday.
