Concert van Boubacar Traoré in Carré and me in the front row!! As qouted by the theater Carré...Boubacar Traoré behoort tot de grote artiesten in West Afrika. Na in 2006 een uitverkocht concert te hebben gegeven in de kleine zaal van het Concertgebouw, kwam Boubacar Traoré tijdens zijn 2007 Europese tour voor een éénmalig, exclusief concert in Nederland naar Carré. De directie van Carré heeft op de korte termijn hemel en aarde bewogen om deze bijzondere man naar Nederland te halen.De singer-songwriter Boubacar Traoré, bijgenaamd KarKar, is een levende legende. Na de Malinese onafhankelijkheid maakte hij furore met lofliederen op het toenmalige bewind. Maar hij ontwikkelde zich tot een zeer persoonlijke, onafhankelijke zanger. De muziek van Boubacar Traoré laat zich niet gemakkelijk onderbrengen. Hij zingt blues, maar dan in de Afrikaanse betekenis. Zijn ballades vertellen het verhaal van liefde en roem en de vergankelijkheid van beide, even gebarsten en onherbergzaam als het landschap van zijn vaderland. Met andere grote namen, als Salif Keita, Ali Farka Touré, Mory Kanté, Toumani Diabaté en de Rail Band bewijst Boubacar Traoré eens te meer dat de Malinese muziek nog steeds springlevend en populair is.
