Let's say you're sitting at home in your favorite chair watching a film. Suddenly you think to yourself, was that supposed to happen? Gosh golly I don't think that was in the script. Well if you've ever experienced this phenomenon then this youtube video is for you. I thought it would be interesting to put together clips with either documented mishaps/ad libs or just things that I have noticed in my own viewing. The point of this isn't to pinpoint the actor's flaws, merely to question why some of these things got left in when, film being film, it could be reshot. So cheers to the actors involved for proving that even for the supposedly lesser film actor (which is ridiculous) the show must go on...to our greater amusement. This is of course limited to what films I had available and what I happened to notice.FILMS The Awful Truth (1937) - Irene Dunne never could do thatAfter the Thin Man (1936) - Pratfall or..actual fall?Pride and Prejudice (1940) - Darcy stammers or Olivier stammers? Greer for the saveRandom Harvest (1942) - Who needs phones? Apparently Greer Garson can communicate just fine without one.The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) - According to Teresa Wright, Myrna and Fredric came up with this amusing dialogue on the spot.Mrs. Miniver (1942) - Now Greer's in trouble. Teresa for the save.Roberta (1935) - Fred playfully punches Ginger. Hilarity and dancing ensues. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - Thomas Mitchell unexpectedly crashes into some off camera equipment and plays it off brilliantly (in dvd commentary). The Thin Man (1934) - Myrna and Bill being spontaneously adorable. As always. Citizen Kane (1940) - Joseph Cotten can't say criticism (in dvd commentary). Orson laughs. Like Garbo, newspaper magnate style. This was all a bit of silliness, clearly. I'd love to hear what sorts of things YOU have noticed in things you have watched. Or if you think I'm wrong about some of these clips.Music=Merry MelodiesNO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. THANKS SUPER AWESOME STUDIOS.
