Zac Efron in Hairspray 2Scoring an impressive 200-plus-million dollars at the box office, the original remake in summer 07 took over the theatres. Most people link the films popularity to its classic, choreographed musical numbers and its fresh, all-star cast. Now the films director, Adam Shankman whos again signed on for the follow-up, is spilling the sequel details. He revealed that Hairspray 2 will focus on the new music era the super political 60s and how character Tracy Turnblad, played by Nikki Blonsky, deals and maybe even stirs up a bit of change in Baltimore. Plus, its being reported that some historical events will be comedicly thrown into the plot. One major pastime is the British Music Invasion and its being said that Link aka Zac Efron is at the forefront of this music trend.While the musical is currently in production, its not being reported if Michelle Pfeiffer, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden or Brittany Snow will return. However, John Travolta will reportedly not be back singing and dancing as Momma Turnblad. Hairspray 2 is set for a 2010 release date, so well keep you posted on the movie deets as theyre dished.
