Edited together here are three scenes from the great 1994 Andrew Davies adaptation of George Eliot's "Middlemarch", with the intent of illustrating the magnetic charms of Rosamond Vincy—something of a 19th century "femme fatale", played seductively by the beautiful Trevyn McDowell.Social climbing Rosamond Vincy has both beauty and talent, and with a beguilingly simple rendition of "No Place Like Home" she begins to work her siren call on the well-meaning but naive in "country ways" Dr. Tertius Lydgate.When next he hears her playing he's somewhat complimented to find her embarrassed at his attentiveness—unsuspecting this might be yet another feminine ploy to ensnare him.And as if hooking the most eligible bachelor in all of Middlemarch into marrying her was not enough, Rosamond also enjoys the occasional duet with young Will Ladislaw. He's just Bohemian enough not to be bothered with conventional notions of propriety.
