It took a while, but I finally got my hands on the Saturn version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, known as in Japan as Akumajo Dracula X - Gekka No Yasoukyoku, which roughly translates into "Nocturne in the Moonlight".The Saturn version features Richter playable from the start, as well as Maria, new areas, new music, extra items and so on. Of course the real meat of the game is the Alucard quest and despite a few slowdown problems caused by a rushed porting job by Team Nagoya, like any version of Symphony of the Night, whether on PSX, Saturn, 360 Arcade or PSP, this is one of the best games of all time, period. Its just a shame Nagoya didn't spend more time fine tuning this game for the Saturn, which was the 2D king of the 32 bit generation. Any type of slowdown is inexcusable for a system like this.
