The local skateshop had a video contest and we actually(suprisingly) won first place---a brand new skateboard.There are a few issues i would like to discuss concering this video:1)Although this video was "commercially sucessful,"----we won a mid-level quality skateboard, i ultimately consider it a disaster/failure for several reasons:a) i could not appear in it due to(probably) lack of skill and/or not being able to get it together by the deadline.b) More importantly, i consider this video to be totally/completely alien and skewed from my original vision of what i thought the video could have and should have been; For instance, if you look at what Eve was doing at 1:41---sort of a syncronized footwork thing with the music, i belive the trick is called a "Russian boneless." There wasn't enough of this. I wanted there to be more synchronized/choreographed skating to the music. Everyone on the team wasn't really keen on the idea and thought it was "gay." So, it didn't happen. But i believe in syncronized skating.2)As discussed above, there was a august 8th deadline to turn in the video, and i was very busy with other things and thus was rushed and couldn't, i feel, turn in a quality product. This video that you are seeing isn't really the finished product.3) The video is only about 2 mins long because the shop set a limit of 2 mins for all entries.4) We are basically beginners except Rob and Eve Baker who are really the stars of this video. Eve makes his first appearance at 0:27, and Rob comes in at 0:35.5)As it relates to #4, Negative comments are unwelcomed for several reasons:a)Look, we know we are beginners; It serves absolutely no purpose to tell us we are "lame," we "suck" etc.b)You've got time to sit in front of the computer and crack on us? You should be out practicing; i don't see you in any magazines or on tv. The only people, maybe, who have any right to criticize are maybe Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk etc. But see, they would never do something like that.Constructive criticism, however, is welcomed.6)The background music is by the band "The Five Uglies." They are an unsigned band from New Jersey. Unfortunately, their MySpace music page is down. (?)
