28 AUG 08 : De VRT wil radio Donna opdoeken. Een plan daarvoor wordt maandag voorgelegd aan de raad van bestuur. In de plaats van Donna zou er een nieuwe zender komen rond de figuur van Peter Van De Veire.Radio Donna werd in 1992 opgericht en moest de publieke omroep voorbereiden op de commerciële concurrentie.De zender groeide snel uit tot een van de grootste radiostations van Vlaanderen en werd dankzij de reclameblokken een belangrijke bron van inkomsten voor de VRT.Toen de concurrentie met Q-Music en 4FM op de proppen kwam, kreeg Donna rake klappen. De zender verloor uiteindelijk zowat de helft van haar luisteraars.Donna haalde bij de laatste peiling nog een marktaandeel van 14 procent maar bleef daarmee kleiner dan rechtstreekse concurrent Q-Music.Geen ontslagen bij Donna-medewerkersEr zou nu een nieuwe hitzender worden opgericht rond de figuur van Peter Van de Veire, de populaire presentator van Studio Brussel. Maandag wordt daarover een voorstel voorgelegd op de raad van bestuur.Of de huidige Donna-stemmen te horen zullen zijn op de nieuwe zender is niet duidelijk. Er zouden evenwel geen ontslagen vallen.
