Danny Slade C. of K.C., free lance street performance, at Art Fair '05 in Country Club Plaza. The guitar case had some literature on Danny in it, thus the contribution-giving readers standing by it at various points. Just-met friend Linda did some singing. This is the p 90 yamaha key board. A good time had by all, as well as an example of Danny's ability to incorporate vocal and other musical talent he recognizes from amongst the surrounding public and thus enhance a given performance..........................................................................................For those of you who don't get it (and, incredibly, there's already been one such person brought to my attention), this was MEANT to be an IMPROMPTU parody. A few lines were already part of it while others were ad-libbed as it was in progress. Thus; THE LIBERTIES in the TEMPO, which were purposely taken in order to fit in the added whimsical lines. It is amazing the amount of insolence, bitterness and jealousy this culture is apparently breeding. The epidemic becomes obvious when instead of pointing out something positive about a thing like this, such as the finesse in the instrumentation or creativity involved, there are so many unhappy people who will instead attempt the "ah ha, gotcha" route, trying desperately to come up with a point of disagreement and a remark they feel is clever. The tendency to do so is based on not understanding enough about the nature of performance and rudeness in general. The desire to be heard despite their ignorance, they feel, prompts them to take the position that they have enough of a (perceived) problem with a given subject, to actually burden people with their opinion. As the author points out in other descriptions (like the one for Whiter Shade medley)there are certain songs which are complicated enough - or have demanding enough vocal notes - to make keeping the tempo tough; neither was the case in this performance. Also, street performances require appraisals of the audience throughout, to even decide which movements within a piece to leave in and which to omit. And, for that matter, even in cases where there is an actual mistake in something, I'd like to see any of the closet critics try to even come close to pulling off the skill, personality and variety present in these postings!
