Originally hailing from Whyalla in country South Australia, Shadows are a three piece hip hop outfit who are now based in Adelaide, and are emerging as a powerful Indigenous voice in the Australian hip hop scene. Shadows music and lyrics are inspired by their own personal stories of growing up, facing hard times, and overcoming poverty and struggle to create a positive image for the younger generation. Caper, Big D and Johnny G have been rapping and producing Hip Hop individually for over ten years, and have been performing and recording collectively as Shadows for two years. SHADOWS released their debut self-titled five-track EP 12 months ago which produced in Australia by Deeta Linde & Isabel Malone and Pete Harrington from London UK. The EP was mastered by UK based Tim Turan of Marilyn Manson, Radiohead, The Ramones, Killing Joke and Slade fame. Over the past 12 months, Shadows have performed at local clubs and events around Adelaide and have developed a strong following on the regional SA music circuit. These shows have included the Flinders University O-Ball alongside The Herd and The Beat Smugglers, the Hip Hop Night at Rhino Room, Wodliparri as part of the Aboriginal SA Youth Showcase and Murray Bridge Mobolong Jail to name a few. Adelaide's Multi Award Winning Film Maker "Shalom Almond Linde" has been beside Shadows filming their every move for a Documentary called "Word Of Mouth" which follows Shadows on our journey with the up's and downs of breaking into the mainstream music industry. The Documentary is completed and has already gained interest from SBS, Word OF Mouth will be screen the week before SHADOWS album launch. SHADOWS were over in the UK for a month and returned in June from recording there debut album "Reflections" with the brilliantly talented "Peter Harrington of Audio Reel". Before SHADOWS headed to the UK they made history to be the first Indigenous group ever to be featured as Artist of the Week on Adelaide's popular Radio Station "Fresh FM". There are special guest appearances on the album by Kim Charnock & Charlotte Povey who recently collaborated with with the world famous Benny from ABBA on his latest solo project. Reflections will be ready to be released in Septemeber 07. SHADOWS contacts: Colin Darcy (Group Member) 0409044538 www.kingsofyacity.com soldiershungry@hotmail.com
