When my teacher introduced me to this concerto last March I was immediately in awe at the genius of Felix Mendelssohn who I understand composed the piece at age 15! I was struck by the simplicity and beauty of the 2nd movement and up to now I can not be satisfied with my playing as if I have not interpreted properly its beauty. My teacher always reminds me that as I mature I will play it differently and will be influenced a lot by my experiences. (edit: Thanks to grandpa Patrick or klingsor93 who pointed out that this piece was composed by Mendelssohn at age 22, not 15. My poor recollection and mistake!). This was during a scholarship concert at my school. Rather ambitious - to raise $20 Million by 2010 so that 1 of 5 students in our school will be a full scholar. Well I hope I can be one of the scholars! hehe..On the 2nd piano is my teacher, Prof. M.B.,the former Dean, College of Music, University of the Philippines. Her side is dimmed in deference to her wishes. Thanks a lot for watching and listening!
