In 1996, the Newsboys had everything going for them- strong writing, strong singers, strong hooks, strong instrumentals and definitely a strong message. Most of the writing done on their album Take Me To Your Leader was thanks to Steve Taylor (although Peter Furler and Phil Joel share the rest of the load). This gives the Newsboys music a comical bent that makes their music extremely accesible and fun, even for people who aren't even rock fans. I didn't know that I would ever like a rock band as much as I like the Newsboys, let alone a Christian rock band. They're incredibly talented musicians. The former lead singer of the band, John James, sings this one. I love his quirky voice; it accentuates the humour in the music. The lyrics are obviously going for some alliterary, rhyming type of scheme, and although they seem very shallow, they have a lot more substance than you would think. The song is very intricate; think of it in 2 parts. The first part ends where the music suddenly... stops. Then it kicks back into gear with a more serious tone. That's why I like this song so much. It's having fun but it has a message to it. The story of this song is about people in crazy situations who realize that the way their living isn't getting them anywhere, so they turn to other people to show them to Christ. I decided to stick with the alien motif of the album and do an extraterrestrial treatment for the video. Even though the song isn't about that, I thought it would be a fun idea to do, and then flip it towards the end to lend true meaning to the lyrics. I tried to keep it as funny and light as possible without being too cheesy.

Chapter 5 part 1No copyright infringement intendedThe next dayIt was five to three and Daisy was counting down the minutes until she could see Joe again. He was sweet, funny and attractive, the perfect distraction from Henry. "Are you doing anything this afternoon?" whispered Iona, Daisy's room mate and a friend on the course."Yeah," Daisy whispered back, "I'm seeing a mate but do you want to go out later?""Definitely!" Iona was from New York and had bonded with Daisy straight away. She was always up for a night out and strongly believed that the course was about socialising rather than music. Suddenly the bell rang and Daisy grabbed her bag and sprinted out of the room."See you later," she called to Iona as she left. A car was waiting by the gate as Daisy ran out."Hi Hackman, please can we go to the Angel." Daisy gave the chauffeur a high five and jumped into the back seat."Certainly Miss Page." Daisy quickly checked herself in the mirror and reapplied her mascara, she had to look gorgeous to meet a rock star.After a few minutes the car pulled up at the door of the Angel hotel. "Here you are Miss.""Thanks Hackman, I'll be here for a few hours so go and have a good time and I will callyou when I want to be picked up." Daisy got out of the car as it drove away. She noticed lots of paparazzi standing idly outside the revolving doors."Miss Miss," called one photographer, "are you here to see the Jonas Brothers?""xcuse- moi? Je ne parle pas anglais," she replied instantly. She got into the lift and pressed the button to their floor. When she reached their room she took a deep breath to steady herself and then knocked on the door."Hello," said Joe as he opened the door, "fancy seeing you here." Daisy walked inside and kissed him on both cheeks."Hi Joe how are you?" He smiled to himself as he shut the door again and ushered her into the sitting room. "I'm very well thank you how are you?""Great thanks." Daisy looked around their suite taking everything in. It wasn't the nicest one that she had ever stayed in but it was still pretty good. "You know that there arehundreds of photographers waiting on the street?""Yeah, we always get them, did they bother you?" Joe looked at her concerned."Oh no I said that I couldn't speak English and they ignored me." Daisy giggled as Joe looked confused. "Desolé monsieur mais je ne parle pas anglais.""what ?" "I lived in Paris for a year." Joe smiled, there was another thing to tick off on his perfect girl list, she spoke French."Are you fluent?""almost." Daisy did not want to elaborate on why she lived in France, when people found out about her they ended up being fake and she didnt like that. "So are any of you family here?" Joe noticed her quick subject change, she never seemed to explain things but that made her mysterious and that was extremely hot."Yeah my mum is in the kitchen.""Well then you had better introduce me to her" said Daisy taking Joe by the arm.Part 2 coming soon...xxx
