The first video.....To the barn, around the fields and down the road."It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts."Henry David ThoreauWaldenMusicStump-Tail DollyJames Bryon fiddles with Carl Jones (guitar), Tom Jackson (banjo), and Don Pedi (dulcimer). The Digital Library of Appalachiahomepagehttp://www.aca-dla.org/index.phpStump tail dolly site pagehttp://www.aca-dla.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/WarrenWilson&CISOPTR=2875&REC=1

It is likely that Irving Mills, who managed big name bands such as Duke Ellington. arranged this odd newsreel appearance of his young bombshell singer Ina Ray Hutton (...and "Her Melodears"). Huey Long, Jr. had been Governor of Louisiana (1928-1932) before becoming a U.S. Senator (1932-1935). In 1935 he had aspirations for the presidency. In this clip he is husting on the bandstand. It is doubtful that Miss Hutton added this song (co-written by Long) to her uptown repertoire. Long was shot and killed at the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge on September 10, 1935
