Ustad Baljeet Singh playing one of Bismillah Khan's famous Dhun's in front of Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh ji.Baljeet Singh hails from Punjab, India. He started his training in Indian Classical Music at a very early age from Satguru Jagjit Singh. The spiritual teaching he recieved in Sri Bhaini Sahib gives his music a quality described as 'the kind of music that opens our hearts'. Later he recieved vocal tuition from Sant Mohinder Singh, Amrisari Ragi.Baljeet Singh is one of the finest exponents of the tarshehnai in the world today. The tarshehnai is a string instrument with a bow. It is basically an esraj fitted with a metal horn and Gramophone Sound box made to sound like a Shehnai, hence the name Tar-shehnai.He is a student of Pyaara Singh of All India Radio. Baljeet Singh is a Grade A artiste of All India Radio and has performed extensively in National Radio and Television, in addition to live concerts.To further his passion for Classical Music he was blessed with the great and rare oppurtunity of learning from the legend maestros Ustad Vilyat Khan sahib and Ustad Bismillah Khan Sahib.Alongside his expertise in playing the tarshehnai, he is endowed with a captivating voice and a fine sense of rhythm and bhava especialy in rendering compositions of raags within the Aadh Granth Sahib.
