This video shows documentation of Cat Lee Marr's 'SONOROUS FORM: Cello & Water' Installation. In this 8 monitor installation, the sound of the cello is visualised through water, videoed and then put on screen. The screens each play a sequence of one note from the Cmajor scale. At the far left the tv is playing a sequence of 8 low C notes differing in duration, the next tv plays a sequence of 8 notes of D, the next 8 of E and so on. The result is a random composition played by the tvs.The aim of this piece is to explore our notion of music, does this sound like a composition despite being generated completely randomly? What effect does the sound of the cello have in this piece?Another aim of this piece is to explore the physical effects of sound on water. By playing each of the notes through water the pattern made by each note can been seen in the water's surface.
