SOB's was the host to our wonderful birthday parties as we celebrated both Yomo Toro's and Sammy Ayala's 75th birthday. We called it "Noche de Leones" Night of the Lions since it was Aurora's birthday as well and our singer Sammy Rosa's birthday and Sammy's son, Luisito's birthday. SOB's gave us a wonderful chocolate cake and Sammy's grandson, Marcos Bermudez , who plays w/ N'Klabe, took the stage for a "contra-clabe" Timbal solo. Yomo and musical director, David Fernandez take turns playing around during the mambo sections.

Zon del Barrio was the featured houseband over the 44th Annual Hispanic Day Parade up Fifth Avenue on Oct. 12, 2008. We also backed up bachateros Toby Love where our 14 year old bongocero, Mario Muñiz was spotlighted.

Aurora & Zon del Barrio produced a spectacular event for Hispanic Heritage Month where they re-enacted 100 years of Latin music in NY. This plena, representing the early recorded plena music from 1910 to 1930, is an original number written by Aurora's brother Yeyito with additional lyrics she wrote added on. Here we are joined by the wonderful dancers of Danza Fiesta. The footage was shot by our gal, Alfie Alvarado
