Aussie songs.First song - It's Our Territory - Northern Territory song.Inspiring and powerful song for the Northern Territory. Also a great slogan. You don't have to be a Territorian to watch the video or listen to the song. If you love Australia, it's more than likely you will appreciate this song. It is a very powerful, patriotic and inspirational song.Second song - Can You Hear Australia's Heroes Marching? - Australian war memorial song. The song is timeless and honours the memory of those who have died in the service and defence of Australia in war.The marching theme of the song is especially powerful and supports the spirit of ANZAC Day.The song does not glorify war or endorse conflict of any kind. The song simply highlights the sacrifice of many Australians who died in the service and defence of our country in war.Over 100,000 Australians have lost their lives in the service and defence of our country. Along with their mates, they're marching once again, in the towns and cities, across our great land.Schools and students frequently ask to use this song in projects and commemorative ceremonies.Radio stations throughout Australia have broadcast the song leading up to ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. The song is also requested to be played at funerals (for veterans). The song has been used for commemorative purposes across Australia by schools, churches, choirs, bands, councils, retirement homes and RSL branches.Third song - South Australia, It's My Home - A state song for South Australia."'South Australia - It's My Home' is a wonderful song." Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE Governor of South AustraliaThe song was broadcast on television to millions of people worldwide at the 2000 Olympic soccer games at Hindmarsh Stadium. On November 3, 2001, the Public Primary Schools Music Festival Choir sung the song at the swearing-in ceremony of South Australia's new Governor, Her Excellency Mrs Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE.Performances of this State song to date include South Australian Government functions and community presentations, Davis Cup Tie against Germany, Showdown matches between the Adelaide Crows and Port Power, Olympic Flame arrival celebrations in Adelaide, and International World Environment Day.Watch and listen to an instrumental rendition athttp://au.youtube.com/watch?v=szdzwfqAdyAWatch and listen to a male rendition of the song at http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=fX1vfJny1rkListen to school children singing the song at http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=sWvkkx_AliUPeople seem to prefer the school children singing the song.Peter Barnes is the author of the three songs. For information about the author go to http://www.users.on.net/revelation/Peter.htmYou can email the author (Peter Barnes) at peterbarnes@iprimus.com.au© Peter Barnes 1997 - 2008. Country Music - It's Our Territory. A very powerful song. The concept, slogan and song was created for the Peter Kittle Motor Company.Peter Barnes was appointed General Manager and Creative Director of MDA Barr Woollard Cawrse NT in 1987, with overall responsibility for improving the creative output, client base and financial performance of the agency. From a position of near closure due to previous poor management, within twelve months the agency became the leading and most influential advertising and marketing company in the Northern Territory.Peter was directly appointed by the Chief Minister (The Hon. Steve Hatton) of the Northern Territory to oversee and direct Northern Territory Government advertising and marketing, which included the Territory's desire to achieve Statehood. On the very day that Peter was to take up his new position, Steve Hatton was replace by Marshall Perron as Chief Minister. Peter lost his job, along with the opportunity to use his abilities in achieving Statehood for the Northern Territory."I created 'It's Our Territory' in 1997 for the Peter Kittle Motor Company. Peter Kittle was a client of my own advertising agency back then. The Katherine flood devastated Katherine and surrounding area. The Peter Kittle dealership was also immersed in the flood. This video was created for the people of Katherine just after the flood and is recognition of the fighting spirit of Territorians. You can watch the full version of the song on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXbn8smZR1Q " Well worth watching if you are a Territorian - comment by Peter Barnes. The Northern Territory is a federal territory of Australia. The capital city is Darwin; the other two sizable settlements are Alice Springs (in the desert interior, 1,500 kilometres (930 mi) to the south) and Katherine (near the base of the Top End). Residents of the Northern Territory are often known simply as 'Territorians'. Almost one third of the population of the Northern Territory are Indigenous Australians, a far greater proportion than in any other state or territory in Australia. There are Aboriginal communities in many parts of the territory, the largest ones being the Pitjantjatjara near Uluru, the Arrernte near Alice Springs, the Luritja between those two, the Warlpiri further north, and the Yolngu in eastern Arnhem Land. Tourism is one of the major industries on the Northern Territory. Iconic destinations such as Uluru and Kakadu make the Northern Territory a must see destination for domestic and international travellers. Diverse landscapes, spectacular waterfalls, wide open spaces, aboriginal culture, wild and untamed wildlife, all create a unique opportunity for the visitor to immerse themselves in the natural wonder that the Northern Territory offers. Images of Uluru (Ayers Rock) are recognised around the world ensuring that Tourism in the Northern Territory will remain a vital component of its future. For information about the author go to http://www.users.on.net/revelation/Peter_Barnes.htmYou can email the author (Peter Barnes) at peterbarnes@iprimus.com.auOther songs by the author of this song that you can view on youtube include:'Can You Hear Australia's Heroes Marching?' Country music - This Northern Land Of Mine.'This Northern Land Of Mine' was authored by Peter Barnes in 1989. It has a great country music feel to it. Peter also authored the song 'It's Our Territory'. You can also watch a video of this song on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXbn8smZR1Q Peter Barnes was appointed General Manager and Creative Director of MDA Barr Woollard Cawrse NT in 1987, with overall responsibility for improving the creative output, client base and financial performance of the agency. From a position of near closure due to previous poor management, within twelve months the agency became the leading and most influential advertising and marketing company in the Northern Territory.Peter was directly appointed by the Chief Minister (The Hon. Peter lost his job, along with the opportunity to use his abilities in achieving Statehood for the Northern Territory.Having no job, Peter went to work in Adelaide with Young & Rubicam Advertising and he wrote 'This Northern Land Of Mine' while at the agency in Adelaide."I really missed the Northern Territory and the song reflects how I felt in 1989, after I had to leave the Territory to find work" - Comment by Peter Barnes. The problem in achieving Statehood for the Territory since Steve Hatton was Chief Minister, you had one Territory leader (Marshall Perron), who concentrated on death (voluntary euthanasia) and the other one (Shane Stone), wanted to stonewall the Territory into Statehood. At the very least, Steve Hatton understood what Territorians expected and desired, especially in the aboriginal community.Want to know more about Peter?
