Original Music & Photographs by Robert HarschFor )))STEREO((( sound (and High Quality video), use this link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt2FuXMvAX8&fmt=18Originally titled "Selena," this simple melody was written in 1988 as a birthday present for a very dear friend of that name. The initial instrumentation was to be flügelhorn and piano (left hand only) with the thought that I'd play them both at the same time.In 1992 I re-worked it into this version - melody on wooden flutes (Shakuhaci & Pan Flute patches), the original piano arpeggio on harp - which was used for the T.I.S. Audio TourGuide for the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument. The name "Peji S'la" [peh-zhee shlah] means "Greasy Grass" in the Lakota language and was what they called the area where the battle took place.A slightly different version, "Brave Against the Sun," was recorded for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival production of "The Grapes of Wrath" in 2003.The music was sequenced on eight tracks with a Korg T-1 Music Workstation. To record for the "Montana Soundscapes" CD (1996), a Korg T-3 was used for "MIDI Overflow". Additionally, for this slide-show, I lengthened the opening drone by about 8 seconds, and reversed the stereo channels - just so the transition effect at 0:53-:57 would carry the shattered pieces in the same direction as the panning of the pizzicato string riff at that point. The mp3s of "Peji S'la (Selena)," "The Seamist: Flight of the Osprey" and the rest of "Montana Soundscapes" are available from my SnoCap online store at:http://www.myspace.com/harschsoundsmusicI also have a few copies of the CD left, taht could be mailed. If you're interested, send me a PM.The photos were taken with a Pentax IQ-160 356mm Camera and a single-use 35mm camera, 1999-2004. Locations include Glacier National Park (Avalanche Creek, moon), Jewel Basin (mountain goats, Flathead Lake sunset) & Kootenai Creek Trail (canyon shadows) in Montana; Devil's Tower (aka "Bear's Lodge" or "Bear's Tower" - "Mato Tipila" in Lakota) and (near) the Wind River Canyon (hawks) in Wyoming; MacIntosh County, North Dakota (prairie tree) and northwest Nebraska (lake sunset at the end). The slide-show was created with Windows MovieMaker; audio editing with Nero WAV Editor & Cakewalk Sonar.~ Robert Harsch ~ Basso9x13
