Instead of watching cartoons, he watched music vidz and listened to CDS. Jakob has always loved the Misfits & punk, he started singing Misfit tunz before he was 1 years old. I like industrial, classic rock, heavy metal & punk, his mother listens to country and his sister listens to pop/rap.....so he has had a diverse bunch of music to choose from. But Jakob chose, on his own.... PUNK! We got him a couple Misfit action figures shortly after he was 1, because he liked the Misfits so much......and he has been hooked ever since. He started liking other punk bands also....it wasn't long and he was singing "Roots Radical", "Beat on the Brat" & "Should I Stay or Should I Go". When he got his first hair-cut, he said he wanted his hair to look like Tim's, so we gave him a mohawk. After a couple more haircuts and constant begging from Jakob to have "Jerry hair" (devilock), we dyed his hair for Halloween and let him have a devilock when he was 2. Jakob's main interest has always been music and we have always supported his, out of the ordinary, but definite, love of music......mainly punk! He is 9 now, he plays bass and HE STILL LOVES PUNK!The reason I have given a brief history of Jake is because of the hate-mail and mean-spirited comments I have received! I have been accused of forcing punk on him, brainwashing him, etc., etc., etc......... Jakob's strong love of music has always been his own, I have just supported him wholeheartedly. I am sick of mean comments & hate mail, especially when the comments are made from ignorant assumptions. Watch his vidz closely and you will easily see that he is very strong-willed and independent......a leader among his friends. By no means, is he capable of being led. Watch "stop staring at me", that video shows that he did not like being filmed and that he was not "propped-up" for these videos. Please read Jake's story before commenting. If you send me hate-mail or make shallow ignorant comments, I will remove them and block you.........sorry, but I do not have time for mindless drivel! Out of the blue one day, at 10 months old, he starting singing "Die Monster Die" from the back seat on the way to daycare. From then on, he has always liked punk, mainly MISFITS!I listen to classic rock, punk, death, heavy metal and such......but Jakob only likes punk! I have never forced him to listen to anything specific, his choice of music has always been his own. He got his first guitar at 2 because his ONLY interest was music.He pestered me for a year to "see Jewwy" (that's how he said Jerry at 3 years old, lol), so we drove to the nearest show (450 miles), to see The Misfits in Denver. Ever since that show, he was hooked!Just before we got to Denver, I asked Jakob what he wanted from the show (thinking shirts, stickers, etc...), and Jakob says "I want a toy and I want a hug from Jewwy". I just thought to myself...."dammit, good luck on fulfilling Jakob's wishes"!Before the show, we were in line waiting to get in. Jakob was climbing the fence, which separated pedestrians from the fans in line for the show. All of a sudden, I notice 2 security workers walking quickly towards us, I'm thinking "oh shit....there are going to bitch about him climbing the fence". They got over to us, opened a gate near us, and said "Jerry Only saw your kid and wants to meet him!". They escort us over to the camper, and we get to go inside and hang with Marky and Jerry....I do not know where Dez was. They asked us a bunch of questions, joked around, signed our jackets, gave us a note which gave Jake anything he wanted from concessions, and then Jerry gave Jakob a dancing toy skeleton that sang "Super Freak", which him and Marky signed first.After the show started and the Misfits had played a couple of tunes, Jerry all of sudden said to the audience, "where is that 3 yr old punk who drove over 400 miles to see us?". I held Jake above my head, the lights hit us, and then Jerry asked us to come up onstage. We got sing "Dig Up Her Bones" with Jerry, before the show Jerry asked Jakob what his favorite song was, Jake replied "dig upper bone".After the song Jerry walked over to us and gave Jakob a big hug, then said "keep punking brat". Then we got down and they sang "Beat on the Brat", lol!JAKOB DID GET HIS WISH!!!.......A TOY AND A HUG FROM JEWWY!!! I would like to personally thank Jerry for fulfilling my son's wishes & strengthening Jakob's love of punk! I have met a few bands over the years, but nothing as epic as our meeting with the Misfits! Jerry was the fucking COOLEST!!! He would not let security throw out a guy who got onstage, he told security "NOBODY gets thrown out of a fucking Misfits show!".
