All my life was a paper once plain, pure and whiteTill you moved with your pen changin' moods now and thenTill the balance was rightThen you added some music, ev'ry note was in placeAnd anybody could see all the changes in me by the look on my faceAnd you decorated my life, created a world where dreams are apartAnd you decorated my life by paintin' your love all over my heartYou decorated my lifeLike a rhyme with no reason in an unfinished songThere was no harmony life meant nothin' to me, until you came alongAnd you brought out the colors, what a gentle surpriseNow I'm able to see all the things life can be shinin' soft in your eyesAnd you decorated my life, created a world where dreams are apartAnd you decorated my life by paintin' your love all over my heartYou decorated my life

every time we say goodbye"Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" is a song by Cole Porter, introduced in 1944 in Billy Rose's musical revue, Seven Lively Arts. The song became a jazz standard, recorded by Ella Fitzgerald (Verve Records 1956), as well as John Coltrane, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Ray Charles, Carly Simon, Rod Stewart, and Robbie Williams. Annie Lennox sang it in Derek Jarman's 1991 film Edward II after recording it for the Red Hot + Blue AIDS awareness tribute album to Cole Porter. Simply Red also included a recording of it on their 1987 album Men and Women. Robbie Williams also covered the song as a B-Side to his Lazy Days single release. As well as being a very pretty song Porter adds a little cleverness; as the lyrics say "major to minor" the tune changes from major to minor chords.Every time we say goodbye I die a little Every time we say goodbye I wonder why a little Why the Godss above meWho must be in the knowThink so little to me They allow you to go When you're near there's such an air of Spring about it I can hear a lark somewhere begin to sing about it Theres no love song finer But how strange the change From major to minor Every time we say goodbye When you're near Theres such an air of Spring about it I can hear a lark somewhere Begin to sing about it Theres no love song finer But how strange the change From major to minor Every time you say Theres no love song finer But how strange The change from major to minor Every time we say goodbye
