this was to be lesley gore's first single but it wasn't released until some time after it's my party. lesley gore was a cut above the average teen pop star because many of her songs had a jazzy sound to them. her first album "I'll cry if I want to" (every song has the word 'cry' in it) was obviously aimed at adults as well as teens. It's sounds like the kind of music Charlotte and Humbert might eat dinner to. it's too bad there couldn't be any rock n roll in lolita but i guess kubrick saw no need for it since the film was aimed more at the cha cha mambo crowd. i love the crowd of people standing around quilty. they look so thoroughly british
