READ FOR SFX MODDING TUTORIAL AND CREDITS!!!These are all of my modded gun sound effects in CS:S. I mostly used SFX form the internet or from the games I have. I know the music is very quiet, I did that to put emphasis on the SFX :D.THIS IS NOT A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON MODDING SOUNDS!!!However, I will tell you how.Recommended Programs:Audacity (To make sure SFX are in wav format and are short enough to be used)GCFscape (To see what to name the modded files)1. Go to the game files for your counter strike game*Drive*:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/*Username*/counter-strike source/cstrike/soundYou may not see the last 2 folders if you have not run CS:S on your computer yet.2. Open GCFscape, and open the package entitled "Counter-Strike source shared." Open "cstrike," and then "sound."3. Make sure your computer browser is in "sound" in your cstrike folder. Now decide which weapon to mod the sound for. I will use the MP5 as an example. In GCFscape, it says the folder for the MP5 SFX is entitled "MP5navy." So now I create a folder inside "sounds" entitled MP5navy. I now open another computer browser and find a suitable sound effect.4. Now I copy and paste this sound effect into my "mp5navy" folder. Most of the names of the firing sound effects in Counter-Strike are in this format:*gun name*-1.wavSome, including the USP, aren't. (usp1.wav)Some also have silenced and unsilenced versions as well. The silenced version is the one that is *gun name*-1.wav., and the unsilenced version will be *gun name*_unsil.wav. Keep that in mind when modding.Anyway, the sound for the MP5 is called "mp5-1," as you can see in GCFscape. So now I rename the sound effect in the folder "mp5-1." It should now work. Basically, what is happening is that the CS game checks for files of the same name as its own in these folders. If it finds one in the right format with the correct name, it uses it instead of the original file.Sometimes, if the sound effect is too long, the sound will not play correctly.
