Greta Keller (* 8. Februar 1903 in Wien; † 4. Februar 1977 in New York) war eine internationale Chansonsängerin österreichischer Herkunft.Greta Keller erhielt früh Tanz- und Schauspielunterricht. Karriere machte sie indes zunächst in erster Linie als Rundfunk- und Schallplattenstar. 1929 schloss sie einen Vertrag mit der Ultraphon, bald interessierte sich auch die BBC für sie. In Berlin arbeitete Greta Keller mit Peter Igelhoff und Peter Kreuder zusammen. Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs nahm sie Wohnsitz in New York; nach 1945 war sie auch wieder in Europa zu erleben, etwa im St. Moritzer Palace-Hotel, wo sie mit ihrer Show "Chez Greta" erfolgreich war. 1960/61 brachten ihr Auftritte im Waldorf=Astoria in New York großen Ruhm. Greta Keller stand bis kurz vor ihrem Tod in Europa und Amerika auf der Bühne. In der Verfilmung des Musicals Cabaret mit Liza Minnelli singt sie (aus dem Off) das Lied "Heirat".Als eine der ersten Künstlerinnen schöpfte Greta Keller die Möglichkeiten des Mikrofons für die künstlerische Gestaltung von Chansons aus. Ihre dunkel timbrierte Stimme schuf Intimität und war feinster Nuancen zwischen Leidenschaft, Wehmut und Ironie fähig.Greta Keller hat viele hundert Lieder, Schlager, Songs und Chansons in zahlreichen Sprachen auf Schallplatte eingespielt. Vieles davon ist inzwischen auf CD wiederveröffentlicht. Ihre Grabstelle befindet sich auf dem Zentralfriedhof Wien

During a service dance given by the No 1 Balloon Centre RAF (SOF throughout to the tune of "I Cried For You"). Male and female service personnel dance to the band.Connected with story in 41/13 dated around February 1941.The musicians are all servicemen who played in professional bands before the war.
