Rio das Pedras - Pela Lei Provincial no. 95, de 4 de abril de 1889, foi criado oficialmente o Distrito de Rio das Pedras, pelo esforço de homens públicos locais, como Francisco Galvão de Almeida Sobrinho, Domingos Garcia Prates, José Leite de Negreiros, Vicente do Amaral Melo, Teophilo Amaral Campos, Comendador Joaquim da Silveira Melo, João Tobias de Aguiar e outros. Cinco anos depois, o Distrito de Rio das Pedras foi elevado à categoria de Município, pela Lei Estadual no. 291, de 10 de julho de 1894 com território desmembrado de Piracicaba.Curiosidade: Na década de 30, por breve período, o distrito de Saltinho pertenceu ao Município de Rio das Pedras
